Duterte started her political career as Vice Mayor of Davao City in 2007, then became the city's mayor from 2010 to 2013, and again from 2016 to 2022. During her tenure, she implemented various programs and policies aimed at improving the lives of Davaoeños, such as the establishment of the Davao City Women's Development Code and the Safe Davao QR Code contact tracing system. Duterte also became known for her strong stance against crime and corruption.
